When Visiting Blyth park Stud, it’s always a pleasure to go around the paddocks and see the mares and yearlings and foals in their various stages of growth.

It’s also fascinating to see how they interact, particularly with us humans. On occasions like this there are usually a couple of horses that stick out and linger on your memory.

I’ve already discussed one with in the previous article (Black Sam Bellamy mare) and Best Foot Forward have decided to bring another one forward now,

Another is a filly by Yeats out of the Aga Khan bred Zarranda who is herself by a fantastic sire in Last Tycoon. She was the most inquisitive mare in the paddock, pushing the others out of the way to get attention, a real madam with attitude. I think that’s a real positive trait in a race mare. She really does have a presence about her.

As you can see, she is a substantial mare, typical of her sire and has the look of a true staying type in line with her pedigree.

She is Unbroken at moment, she is due to go to Peter Hamersley’s pre-training Yard any day now. I have spoken to Peter this morning who tells me the breaking in process is very much dependent on the horse, but 4-6 weeks is a general rule of thumb.

When she has been broken and ridden away, she will also go to Henry Oliver’s yard alongside the Black Sam Bellamy Mare.

Obviously, it’s very early days with her but we would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in the syndicate that this mare will be a part of.
