4.25 Bangor on Dee Review

I’m reviewing this race as the runner up really caught my eye.

Casterly Rock, trained by Phillip Hobbs and rode by Richard Johnson hadn’t shown much last season but was stepping up in trip, 2 and half miles, on his first run for 5 months.

Being a son of Kings Theatre meant this trip was going to suit better than the 2 miles he’d been running over.

He travelled and jumped well, but even this trip, on a sharp track and good ground was still not enough test for him.

The Nicky Henderson trained Royal Ruby was race fit and enjoyed this trip and ground and Casterly Rock only went down by a few lengths and giving the winner 8lb.

Only rated 115 he won’t go up much for this so with this race under his belt, with a more galloping track and a further step up in trip (2m6f to 3m) and even some cut in the ground his turn is very near so put him in your trackers.

Thanks for reading
