A pleasing result for me having selected Getaway Honey at 7/4 yesterday morning and with an SP of 6/4 we beat the book which is what its all about.

I am not getting carried away, after all we are talking about a Stratford NHF race in July, but I must say I am rather taken with Getaway Honey. Indeed I do like the Alan King horse Mayllan too, however that horse clearly needs further now and I would like to see more improvement before I would consider putting her in to my tracker.

The daughter of Getaway however is already in there. The progeny of Getaway tend to do very well at this level and up to 20f over hurdles are always worth a second glance.

However age and longer distances seems somehow to bring out a little bit of temperament in some of them and I shall be watching carefully in future for any signs of that coming out.

I never really felt, from a good 4f out, that she was in any danger of losing the race, always travelled, nothing too hurried, took the race in her stride really well, whereas when Mayllan made her move, roughly two out, it was evident that her jockeys call was not going to be answered with an instant turn of foot and she will no doubt be better stepped up to 20f over hurdles.

I would suggest the ground did not suit her either and an early Autumn campaign over hurdles might prove move more fruitful, although I would want to see proof of her willing to go after a lead horse in a finish before I could put her in my tracker and consider a bet.

Talkingpicturestv ran a very pleasing first race for Henry Oliver and will be one to note another day, always in mid division, travelled well, tapped for toe and was not quite sure what to do coming round the home bend but the penny did drop and she will have learnt an awful lot from this.

I dont want to see her go somewhere like Southwell, maybe when Bangor/Fontwell/Huntingdon comes back next month she will appear at one of those tracks in a mares NHF. Bangor or Huntingdon would suit her very nicely I think. She might have found it a little too sharp round here in truth.

Getaway Honey is going in the tracker but with a view to running over hurdles over further. I dont like backing horses with penalties in NHF, more often than not, its the way to the poor house and we are not going there !!

So a decent little race, I have rated the race around Getaway Honey as she has the best form and there are two for the tracker
